Mechanical Engineer – Custom Switchgear & Power Distribution Solutions
Location: Elmhurst IL
About the Position:
Join an innovative team at the forefront of custom switchgear and power distribution system design. We’re seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to drive the design, development, and production of sheet metal enclosures, panel layouts, and mechanical systems for low- and medium-voltage assemblies.
Be part of a collaborative, cross-functional environment and make a lasting impact on projects for industrial, commercial, and utility end-users.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design custom sheet metal enclosures and mechanical assemblies for low- and medium-voltage switchgear applications.
- Develop detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
- Work closely with electrical engineers and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless product integration and optimal performance.
- Perform tolerance analyses, thermal evaluations, and structural assessments of designs.
- Maintain thorough engineering documentation, including BOMs, revision history, and design updates.
- Drive initiatives for cost reduction, enhanced manufacturability, and product performance improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably with electrical equipment, switchboards, or switchgear manufacturing.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Expertise in sheet metal design, enclosure fabrication, thermal management, and support for manufacturing processes.
- Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills.
