Position Summary

The Final Inspector I is responsible for the inspection of components, sub-assemblies, and fully assembled products. This role includes gauging, measuring, and visually inspecting product and associated documentation to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.


Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect a wide variety of interrelated dimensions and surface finishes.


  • Perform inspection of in-process and completed parts.


  • Set up and perform special inspections on machines or at bench stations.


  • Use and interpret measurement instruments and gages including height gauges, thread gauges, micrometers, calipers, ring gauges, depth gauges, and comparators.


  • Read and interpret complex blueprints, procedures, travelers, and inspection documentation.


  • Utilize Excel files and visual management boards to collect and report First Time Yield (FTY) data.


  • Collaborate with Group Leaders and Team Leaders on problem-solving and quality improvement activities.


  • Perform scan/verify operations using internal systems.


  • Coordinate with planners and team leadership to support daily shipment requirements.


  • Partner with Quality and Manufacturing Engineers to address quality concerns, including internal nonconformance and material review processes.


  • Meet inspection system requirements, including material release, variation handling, router systems, and “hold” processes.


  • Perform specific hand deburring operations using microscopes and hand tools, following defined processes and documentation requirements.


  • Operate dot peen and laser marking systems and perform verification checks.


  • Train other team members in Final Inspection processes for certified value streams as required.


  • Complete and maintain internal certifications related to cosmetic inspection standards.


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred


  • Knowledge of welding terminology and symbols


  • Familiarity with sectioning, polishing techniques, and laboratory microscopes


  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications


Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment


  • At least 1 year of inspection experience, including hard gaging and precision measurement tools


  • Experience with metal deburring


  • Experience with weld or braze inspection


Key Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping


  • Knowledge of machining and welding processes


  • Advanced use of standard and specialized gaging equipment


  • Effective verbal and written communication skills


Work Authorization
