Job Title: Layup / Test Technician
Location: Anaheim, CA
Schedule: Must be flexible to work 1st and 2nd shifts as needed.
(1st: 6am-230pm 2nd: 2pm-1030pm)
Pay Rate Range (DOE): $24-$26 hour
Education Requirement: High School Diploma or GED
About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Layup / Test Technician to support both our Layup Team and Materials Testing Group. This role involves creating composite and adhesive test panels through hands-on layup processes, as well as performing mechanical testing in a laboratory environment. Experience with composite materials, prepreg layup, and materials testing equipment is highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
• Accurately cut, measure, and prepare raw materials including prepregs, adhesives, and substrates.
• Perform hand layup of composite materials such as carbon fiber, aramid, glass fiber composites, honeycomb sandwich panels, and adhesive systems.
• Operate ply cutting machines, autoclaves, and related composite fabrication equipment.
• Conduct metal and substrate surface preparation processes including chemical etching, anodizing, and priming as required for test panel fabrication.
• Support the testing group by generating data in accordance with ASTM and other applicable materials testing standards.
• Perform mechanical testing on specimens using Zwick or MTS test frames.
• Ensure testing activities are completed accurately and on time in alignment with key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Maintain proper documentation, test records, and data integrity.
• Follow “clean as you go” housekeeping practices to maintain a safe, organized, and compliant work environment.
• Adhere to all safety, quality, and procedural standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with composite materials and prepreg layup processes.
• Familiarity with autoclave operations and ply cutting equipment.
• Prior experience performing mechanical testing using Zwick or MTS test frames.
• Knowledge of ASTM or other materials testing standards.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a lab or manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and handle materials as required for fabrication and testing tasks.
