CNC Setup Technician & Programmer 
Location:
Painesville, OH
Shift: 1st Shift
Pay Rate: $33–$38 per hour
Employment Type: Direct Hire


Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced CNC Setup Technician / Programmer to support 1st shift operations in a precision machining environment. This role is responsible for programming, setup, and optimization of CNC mills, lathes, and multiplex machines. The ideal candidate is self sufficient, detail oriented, and collaborative, with a strong focus on improving speed, throughput, and part quality.


Key Responsibilities - CNC Programming

  • Program CNC mills, lathes, and multiplex machines (Mazak preferred)

  • Enter and modify CNC programs, including:

    • Zero and reference points

    • Tool registers, offsets, and compensation

    • Conditional switches


  • Calculate programming requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry

  • Prove part programs and make necessary adjustments to ensure accuracy and efficiency

CNC Setup & Machining Support

  • Set up CNC mills, CNC lathes, multiplex, and/or INDEX multi spindle machines

  • Install and adjust:

    • Three jaw and four jaw chucks

    • Tools, attachments, collets, bushings

    • Cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers

    • Vises (including indicating)


  • Provide troubleshooting support during production runs

  • Work closely with the production team to improve cycle times and overall throughput

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of CNC programming and/or setup experience on mills, lathes, and multiplex machines

  • Proven ability to work independently and efficiently in a production environment

  • Strong problem solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset

  • Willingness to collaborate with production and engineering teams to increase speed and throughput

Preferred Experience

  • Experience programming Mazak machines

  • Multi-spindle or INDEX machine experience

  • Precision machining or high-volume production background
