Overview
The Client is an industry-leading company focused on manufacturing excellence and food safety. As the QC Supervisor, you will supervise the testing of raw materials, in-process, and finished products to ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory agency requirements. You will be responsible for developing techniques and procedures for inspecting and testing raw materials and company products, assisting with the preparation of specifications and technical documentation, and conducting research on product defects to recommend product or quality improvements. The QC Supervisor also provides SQF program support in the absence of the QC Manager, manages laboratory personnel schedules, and fosters positive relationships with vendors, customers, and team members.
Responsibilities
- Train and supervise assigned laboratory personnel, ensuring adequate training for assigned tasks
- Manage daily work schedules and task assignments for QC personnel
- Hire, manage, and conduct performance reviews in conjunction with the QC Manager
- Ensure completion of QC tasks, including product testing and facility inspections
- Review quality control test results and make disposition decisions on raw material and finished products
- Maintain and calibrate all QC laboratory instruments
- Recommend and implement improvements in the QC Department
- Maintain accurate records, retain samples, and relevant QC information
- Efficiently utilize rework products consistently
- Assist with internal and customer complaint investigations
- Assist with creation and maintenance of Safety Data Sheets and Product Specifications
- Monitor and track effective cleaning practices of Sanitation and Production
- Maintain familiarity with company policies and procedures related to quality control
- Practice regular, dependable, punctual attendance
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned relating to food security, sanitation, cGMPs, HACCP/food safety, Preventative Controls, SQF, and customer-specific requirements
Qualifications
- B.A. or B.S. degree in a science discipline
- Proficiency with general laboratory analytical equipment and procedures
- At least five years’ experience in a supervisory role, with background in food or beverage manufacturing
- Ability to move about in a production and laboratory environment
- Visual acuity to evaluate sample appearance and use laboratory instruments
- Demonstrated proficiency in taste/aroma sense acuity
- Good English communication skills, both written and verbal
- HACCP certification (or ability to acquire)
- Experience with SQF and Preventative Controls
- Ability to report to any company facility as needed, sometimes with same-day notice
