Quality Control Inspector
Pay Rate: $25.24 per hour
Schedule: Flexible, approximately 20 hours per week
Key Days: Monday & Tuesday (Day Shift preferred)

Job Summary
Under the direction of the Quality Assurance Supervisor, the Quality Control Inspector (Quality Assurance Technician) is responsible for verifying compliance with food safety, regulatory, and quality standards. This role performs microbiological, chemical, and physical testing on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods, while supporting auditing, documentation review, and environmental monitoring activities.
This position requires strong attention to detail, flexibility, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with production and quality teams.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Conduct routine testing of raw ingredients, work-in-process, and finished products

Perform microbiological plating (coliform, yeast, mold, etc.)

Complete physical product testing including pH, moisture, salt, and butterfat

Conduct sensory evaluations and manage product retain samples

Review finished product pre-shipment paperwork

Organize and perform environmental swabbing on a weekly basis

Maintain accurate internal product testing records and documentation

Assist with HACCP prerequisite programs, training, and recordkeeping

Create, update, and maintain Quality SOPs

Follow all Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards

Maintain QA lab cleanliness, supplies, and inventory

Communicate testing results clearly and escalate issues as needed

Manage time effectively to complete tasks within assigned shift hours

Collaborate effectively with coworkers and QA leadership

Provide weekend coverage as required by production schedules

Assist QA Supervisor and QA Manager with additional duties as needed

Comply with all safety and environmental requirements

Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
-
Must be at least 18 years of age
-
Basic computer skills
-
Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions

Basic math skills
Preferred Qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a food-related environment (dairy preferred)

Knowledge of food chemistry, microbiology, food composition, and regulations

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to adapt quickly when priorities change

Self-directed, dependable, and team-oriented

Flexible availability to meet production needs

Positive, professional, and willing to learn
Physical Requirements

Frequent movement including standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, and climbing

Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Work in varying temperature environments, including cold and hot areas

Exposure to environments with dust

May include days, nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime
