Kelly is currently looking for a AC, Alberta location for a long-term contract.
Title: Large Project Construction Scheduler – Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta
Contract length: 12+ months – 5 days Onsite role (Mon to Fri) – Pay range: $60-$79/hr. on T4. No Relocation assistance
Position Summary
The Senior Construction Scheduler is responsible for developing, managing, and controlling integrated construction schedules across large capital projects. This role requires strong hands?on construction execution exposure, direct coordination with contractors and subcontractors, and proactive schedule risk management across Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Start?up/Commissioning phases.
Responsibilities / Duties
Construction-Focused Schedule Management
- Develop, maintain, and control integrated master schedules covering Construction and Start?up/Commissioning, with linkage to Engineering and Procurement as applicable.
- Maintain the construction schedule throughout the project lifecycle, incorporating progress updates, scope changes, and delay impacts.
- Perform critical path and resource overload analysis to identify construction constraints and recommend mitigation actions.
- Lead teams in forecasting construction schedule risks and developing recovery plans.
- Evaluate schedule deviations and quantify construction impact to support decision?making.
Construction Execution & Field Exposure
- Provide hands?on scheduling support to large construction contractors, coordinating multiple subcontractors (civil, structural steel, piping, insulation, scaffolding, etc.).
- Support quantity tracking, installation rate analysis, and productivity validation.
- Perform quantity surveys to validate construction progress and earned status.
Resource & Cost Integration
- Resource?load schedules using project cost estimates to align staffing, scope, and execution strategy.
- Perform staffing density and resource?leveling checks to validate schedule durations and constructability.
Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Apply established schedule management practices to identify critical issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of Construction Schedule Management work processes.
- Promote discipline knowledge through technical coaching and best?practice sharing.
- Identify and recommend cycle?time reduction opportunities.
Experience / Construction Exposure
- 5–10 years of construction scheduling experience, with strong field execution exposure.
- Minimum 10yrs of Scheduling Exposure
- Minimum 5 years working for an asset owner or EPC as a construction scheduler.
- Practical experience supporting major construction contractors and multi?trade coordination on large capital projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline OR 10 years of experience in project controls, engineering, or construction.
- Minimum 10 years experience in project controls, engineering, or construction environments.
- At least 5 year of Primavera P6 experience.
