Job Title: Fabrication Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Davenport, IA (Onsite at John Deere Davenport Works)
Assignment Length: 12 Months (As a W2 employee of KellyOCG)
Pay Rate: $44.00 per hour
Shift Information: 1st Shift, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM. Overtime may be requested by Deere.
Work Environment: Onsite interviews only. Local candidates preferred. Metatarsal safety boots required from day one.

Position Overview:
As a Fabrication Manufacturing Engineer supporting Forestry welding operations, you will engage with the workforce to solve operational challenges and work with a cross-functional team on continuous improvement projects. You will be part of the One Davenport team at a premiere factory for the Construction and Forestry Division, contributing to a dynamic and inclusive production environment.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Investigate, gather, and analyze data to identify root causes of welding issues in the supported departments

  • Establish and maintain routings, pay standards, factory layouts, weld tooling, weldment costs, operator method sheets, and control plans

  • Identify and implement cost reduction, quality, safety, and ergonomic improvements for welding operations

  • Work with PDM, SAP, and Creo to support engineering functions

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience or formal education in Welding Engineering

  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with union employees, peer Engineers, and Supervisors

  • General understanding of Creo, AutoCAD, or other modeling software

  • Knowledge of engineering tools, systems, and databases (SAP, Kotem, etc.)

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working with labor standards in MPPlanner

  • Knowledge of manufacturing weld processes, tooling, and facilities

  • Experience programming and troubleshooting Fanuc robotics welding applications

  • Experience with line and process design, material presentation, and line balancing

  • Hands-on experience with Lincoln/Miller MIG welding equipment

  • Experience working with skilled trades and UAW contract knowledge

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology discipline with emphasis in welding or a similar field, or equivalent work experience
