Production Operator I – Vacuum Chamber Operator / Production Technician
Location: South Windsor
Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Position Summary
We are seeking a Production Operator I – Vacuum Chamber Operator / Production Technician to join our team.
This position is responsible for inspecting, preparing, and coating customer parts using vacuum chamber equipment to apply specified aluminum coatings in accordance with customer requirements and company policies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, quality-focused, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment serving the aerospace, defense, and energy industries.
Key Responsibilities

Inspect parts prior to coating to ensure compliance with customer specifications

Hang and prepare parts for coating operations

Operate and fill vacuum chambers to apply aluminum coatings per required specifications

Review job cards and follow written and verbal instructions in English

Inspect masked/taped parts prior to coating

Coat test pieces and submit to Lab and Quality Department for inspection

Measure dimensional tolerances and coating thickness after base and final coating application

Inspect coated parts to ensure uniform coverage and adherence to quality standards

Complete and maintain all required documentation (routers, job records, inspection reports) accurately

Report acceptance or rejection of coated parts

Assist with daily maintenance and quarterly cleaning of vacuum chambers

Maintain a clean and organized work area

Adhere to all company safety rules and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Work collaboratively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment

Perform other duties as assigned
Work Schedule & Physical Requirements

Full-time: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance required
-
Ability to sit, stand, reach, stoop, or kneel for extended periods

Ability to regularly lift parts weighing 10 lbs. or more
Qualifications
Required:
-
High School Diploma, Secondary Certificate, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
-
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
-
Ability to follow established job instructions with minimal supervision
-
Skilled in measuring and using test equipment as prescribed
-
Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word and Excel)
-
Strong communication skills
-
Self-motivated with strong problem-solving abilities
-
Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
