Kelly® is looking for a Chemical Manufacturing Operator / Chemical Handler to work at a premier chemical production facility in Kearny, NJ. Location: Kearny, NJ 07032
Pay rate: $27.87/ hr
Shift: Rotating days – 3:00 pm to 3:00 am
2 schedules available: Thurs-Sun or Tues- Frid.
Training will be completed on the 3:00 am to 3:00 pm shift.
Contract: Direct hire
SUMMARY
The purpose of the Chemical Handler is to provide assistance as needed to the Operators in the asphalt production process. Good mechanical skills, basic computer skills (training available) and good team communication skills are required by the job. This job requires excellent self-direction working alone or in small teams with little direct supervision.

What’s a typical day as Chemical Manufacturing Operator / Chemical Handler? You’ll be:

  • Certifying and operating in critical areas including truck loading, unloading, and boiler incinerator processes

  • Performing administrative tracking: data entry, BOL processing, production entry, receiving, and organization

  • Completing operational tasks, troubleshooting process issues, and collaborating on repairs with Maintenance

  • Upholding high standards of safety, environmental compliance, and good housekeeping practices

  • Attending meetings, engaging in training sessions, and actively participating in process improvement projects

  • Supporting and leading Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) processes across the team

This job might be an outstanding fit if you:

  • Have a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent (required)

  • Possess chemical industry or power plant experience (required); manufacturing or asphalt production experience is a plus

  • Can stand for 10–12 hours, climb/descend stairs, lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs repeatedly, and perform repetitive movements

  • Are comfortable with exposure to temperature extremes and moderate to loud noise environments

  • Can operate a computer or keyboard instrument and use basic math skills

  • Communicate clearly in English and have strong teamwork and accountability skills

  • Are available to work rotating shifts with regular on-site attendance
