What’s a typical day as a Customer Service Representative? You will:
- Communicate with customers by telephone or in person to provide product or service information, take or enter orders, cancel accounts, and resolve inquiries or complaints.
- Provide services such as license, registration, title, permit, or program eligibility information as required.
- Ensure that appropriate solutions or changes are made to effectively resolve customer issues.
- Keep accurate records of customer interactions and transactions, documenting details of inquiries, complaints, comments, and actions taken.
- Resolve service or billing complaints, perform activities such as exchanging merchandise, refunding money, or adjusting bills.
- Complete contract forms, prepare change of address records, and issue service discontinuance orders using computer systems.
- Refer unresolved customer grievances to appropriate departments for further investigation.
- Determine and communicate charges for requested services, collect deposits or payments, and arrange for billing as needed.
- Proactively contact customers regarding inquiries, investigation results, or planned adjustments.
- Perform journey level customer service activities and use discretion when handling sensitive information and complex complaints.
- Conduct research, compile and analyze information, and interpret policies to resolve customer issues.
- Periodically handle receipts, reconcile cash, and prepare deposits for the bank or state treasurer’s office.
This job might be an outstanding fit if you have:
- Experience in customer service, call centers, or related fields (preferred)
- Ability to use discretion when handling sensitive customer information or complex issues
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Basic computer proficiency and data entry experience
- High school diploma or accredited GED (required)
- Cash handling, reconciliation, or related experience (a plus)
