Kelly Engineering is seeking a Field Service Manager to join our client’s team. This role is responsible for building and leading the Field Service Technician (FST) program, establishing processes, tools, and standards that support field service operations.

This individual will initially focus on developing the service framework from the ground up, including workflows, documentation, training, and support systems, then transition into leading and managing the program and FST team to ensure reliable service delivery and strong customer support.

Qualifications / Experience Needed

  • Demonstrated experience building or scaling a Field Service Technician program or service organization.

  • Prior experience as an FST with strong automation troubleshooting skills.

  • Experience leading or supervising field service technicians or technical service teams.

  • Knowledge of automation systems, instrumentation, and controls.

  • Ability to lead under pressure and support field teams during critical downtime situations.

  • Associate degree in Automated Manufacturing, Electromechanical Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field (preferred).

  • Experience with robotics systems (preferred).

  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities
Service Program Development

  • Design and implement the FST program, including service processes, workflows, documentation, and operational standards.

  • Establish service infrastructure, including troubleshooting procedures, escalation paths, training materials, and reporting processes.

  • Develop and implement technician training and onboarding programs to support skill development and consistency in the field.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance service efficiency, response time, and customer satisfaction.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor the FST team, providing technical guidance and operational support.

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues and service challenges.

  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages problem solving, innovation, and knowledge sharing.

Customer & Technical Support

  • Partner with customers, project teams, and subcontractors during system checkout, commissioning, and startup to ensure system performance requirements are met.

  • Support field technicians with remote troubleshooting and diagnostics, including PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.

  • Oversee service calls, warranty support, and ongoing customer service needs.

Travel: Approximately 25-50% travel, typically about once per month depending on project and service needs.
