Kelly Services is seeking an experienced Logistics Tech in Melrose Park, IL. Candidates must have:

  • SAP  

  • Familiarity with OSHA and Company safety requirements

  • MS Office and Google Docs

This is a contract to hire opportunity, meaning you could get hired directly after 3-4 months, depending on your performance and attendance.

Shifts and pay:
Mon-Fri, 9am-5:30pm
$20/hr.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments.

  • Prepare items for shipment by comparing identifying information and counts, weights, or

  • measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of

lading, invoices, orders, or other records.

  • Coordinate with Project Engineering to determine the appropriate method of shipment for

customer equipment and finished goods being shipped to customers by utilizing knowledge
of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.

  • Assemble cardboard containers or select preassembled containers.

  • Package items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding such that the

goods and/or equipment being shipped will be adequately protected from damage during
shipping and handling.

  • Bind containers with metal tape, using strapping machine.

  • Stamp, stencil, or affix identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or

containers.

  • Post weights and shipping charges, and affix postage.

  • Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and

communicate discrepancies to Purchaser and Accounts Payable.

  • Route received items to appropriate departments.

  • Monitor inventory of shipping materials and supplies and coordinate with Purchaser as

necessary for replenishment.

  • Support the preventive and emergency maintenance/repair of machines and equipment by

securing the necessary materials, goods, and services.

  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the Shipping/Receiving and bar stock storage

areas.

  • Perform other duties as required to support the business.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Demonstrated proficiency with word processing (e.g., MS Word or Google Docs) and

spreadsheet (e.g., MS Excel or Google Sheets) software.

  • Familiarity with OSHA and Company safety requirements.

  • Collaborative, open-minded, and professional communication style and demonstrated ability

to work cooperatively with employees and vendor/supplier personnel across every responsibility level.
