Location: North Charleston, SC, United States
Employment Type: Full-time (W/ full Ben.)
Target Salary: $85,000 – $95,000
Annual Bonus – 10-15%

Job Overview
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that engineering and manufacturing processes are performed correctly using the appropriate tools, materials, and procedures. The role ensures employees follow proper quality standards and safety requirements throughout the production process and within manufacturing facilities.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and excellent communication skills to work closely with production assemblers, soldering specialists, and test technicians.

Primary Responsibilities
Quality Assurance

  • Monitor and maintain company quality processes to ensure 100% customer satisfaction.

  • Inspect and test manufacturing products, components, and processes against predefined standards.

  • Provide quality tools, methods, and data to support defect-free production internally and with suppliers.

Problem Solving & Analysis

  • Analyze reported quality problems and develop improvement solutions.

  • Conduct RMA analysis and NCR resolution for both internal and external issues.

  • Perform statistical analysis of manufacturing data and create reports for senior management.

Quality Systems Management
Maintain and improve processes for:

  • Quality Management System (QMS)

  • Environmental Management System (EMS)

  • Telecom Quality Management System (TL9000)

  • Occupational Health & Safety (OSHA)

Responsibilities include:

  • Process auditing

  • Implementation of Opportunities for Improvement (OFIs)

  • Quality system reviews

  • Documentation creation and updates

Root Cause & Corrective Action

  • Act as the manufacturing focal point for quality issues.

  • Perform root cause analysis.

  • Implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.

Supplier Quality

  • Work with Supply Chain Management to develop high-quality suppliers for commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) or custom materials.

Inspection

  • Inspect:

    • Incoming components

    • Raw materials

    • Fabricated parts

    • In-process assemblies

    • Subassemblies

Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree Prefered

Experience

  • 5–10 years in a technical field

  • Significant hands-on quality and manufacturing experience

Technical Skills

  • Strong quality and data analysis skills

  • Strategic problem solving

  • Knowledge of quality tools including:

    • DFx (Design for Excellence)

    • FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)

Additional Skills

  • Cross-functional collaboration

  • Project management

  • Ability to read components and assembly drawings

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Logical problem-solving ability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six Sigma certification

  • CQE, CQM, CRE certifications

  • Lean manufacturing certification

  • SAP experience

  • MS Office and statistical software proficiency
