Engine Dynamometer Test Technician
Kelly® Engineering is hiring Dynamometer Test Technicians. These roles are contract to hire; 2nd shift opportunities at our Van Buren Township based client. Their core business is vehicle testing for light and heavy-duty engine testing along with other services including powertrain, fuel cell, and more. Hours: 3:00-11:30
Your main focus is to build & set up engine dyno test rigs, execute testing, and collect test data for developmental/prototype engines, transmissions and vehicles ranging from simple to complex technology. Knowledge of emissions equipment preferred.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Sets up test cells for engines, transmissions and vehicles by modifying or fabricating transmission, engine, of vehicle components for testing
- Selects, installs, calibrates, and checks sensing and data acquisition equipment
- Assists in the design specification and troubleshooting of test cell and test electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanicals for problematics operations.
- Executes engine, transmission, or vehicle builds
- Create process documentation detailing any unique areas of test cell operation
- Monitors critical functions of engines and equipment while operating test cells
- Records or coordinates the recording of test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method
- Perform preliminary analysis of results
- Present data to customers or other staff member
- Suggests new process improvements
- Responsible for the quality of measurement and test system data results
- Resolve problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts
- Contributes to planning own activities on a project and monitoring/controlling costs, while working within engineering principles and company specifications and practices regarding calculations and other variables affecting test results
Qualifications of the Successful Candidate
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED), plus technical training such as trade school, apprenticeship, or associate degree
- 5+ years’ experience installing, maintaining, or servicing industrial or large test equipment
- Experience with gasoline, alternative fuel, and/or diesel engine test cell setups
- Familiarity with standardized test cycles and 1065 regulations
- Knowledge of basic computer hardware and software
- Microsoft Office Skills
- Must be self-motivated and possess the drive to complete tasks in a timely manner and with appropriate attention to detail while multitasking
- Must have personal tools, (general mechanics hand tools)
