Salary/Pay Rate/Compensation: $48,000/year + direct hire benefits, medical plan, among others

Shift: Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm

What’s a typical day as a Tax Accountant? You’ll be:

  • Preparing and submitting municipal, state, and federal tax returns, including IVU, retentions, Patente Municipal, and CRIM

  • Ensuring compliance with Puerto Rico and federal tax laws relevant to sales, service, and distribution operations

  • Calculating and recording monthly and annual tax provisions

  • Reconciling accounts related to tax liabilities and contributions

  • Supporting annual tax planning and preparing quarterly estimates

  • Projecting tax obligations based on estimated income, deductible expenses, and applicable credits

  • Conducting comparative analysis between past and current fiscal year tax payments

  • Calculating required estimated payments for Hacienda and IRS, considering penalties

  • Consolidating accounting information for strategic fiscal decisions

  • Participating in budget review meetings with accounting supervisors and finance directors

  • Monitoring and analyzing changes in tax legislation impacting distributed products

  • Maintaining organized and up-to-date records of all relevant tax documentation

  • Collaborating with external auditors and regulatory agencies during audits and inspections

  • Identifying legitimate tax savings opportunities for the business model

  • Documenting and implementing internal tax compliance procedures

  • Personally visiting government agencies to resolve inconsistencies or debt notifications

  • Handling tax-related processes for the company and affiliated entities

  • Protecting sensitive and confidential information with strict confidentiality protocols

  • Contributing actively to the company’s mission, vision, and culture of efficiency and high-quality service

This job might be an outstanding fit if you:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Have proven experience in tax accounting, preferably within Puerto Rico and U.S. jurisdictions

  • Are adept at preparing and reconciling tax returns for municipal, state, and federal obligations

  • Possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Demonstrate excellent organizational and documentation abilities

  • Have experience supporting fiscal planning and preparing financial projections

  • Can collaborate effectively with auditors and regulatory agencies

  • Are committed to maintaining confidentiality and integrity with sensitive financial information

  • Exhibit professionalism and dedication to high-quality internal and external customer service
