Press Apprentice (2nd Shift)
Location: North Syracuse, NY
Shift/Hours: Monday–Thursday, 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM
Pay Range: $17.50 – $18.00 per hour


Job Overview
We are looking for a motivated and reliable Press Apprentice to join the 2nd shift production team. This role supports press operators in daily operations, including setup, cleanup, and job changes, while gaining hands-on experience in the printing process. This position offers a clear pathway for advancement into a Press Operator role.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist press operators with setup, cleanup, and job changes

  • Maintain clean and organized pressrooms with all required materials

  • Support paper staging and pre-stage operations as needed

  • Follow instructions from supervisors and press operators, applying training and feedback

  • Help ensure safe and efficient production processes

Qualifications

  • Ability to identify problems, evaluate options, and implement solutions

  • Basic knowledge of machines, tools, and computers (operation and maintenance)

  • Understanding of mathematical concepts such as measurement and basic logic

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with good command of English

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse teams

  • Detail-oriented with solid analytical abilities

  • Ability to accurately distinguish colors

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50–60 lbs and push/roll 300–800 lbs using a pallet jack

  • Strong manual dexterity (cutting, grasping, pushing, pulling, etc.)

  • Ability to stand for extended periods on varied surfaces

  • Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, and stretching

  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and depth perception
