Press Apprentice (2nd Shift)
Location: North Syracuse, NY
Shift/Hours: Monday–Thursday, 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM
Pay Range: $17.50 – $18.00 per hour
Job Overview
We are looking for a motivated and reliable Press Apprentice to join the 2nd shift production team. This role supports press operators in daily operations, including setup, cleanup, and job changes, while gaining hands-on experience in the printing process. This position offers a clear pathway for advancement into a Press Operator role.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist press operators with setup, cleanup, and job changes
- Maintain clean and organized pressrooms with all required materials
- Support paper staging and pre-stage operations as needed
- Follow instructions from supervisors and press operators, applying training and feedback
- Help ensure safe and efficient production processes
Qualifications
- Ability to identify problems, evaluate options, and implement solutions
- Basic knowledge of machines, tools, and computers (operation and maintenance)
- Understanding of mathematical concepts such as measurement and basic logic
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with good command of English
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse teams
- Detail-oriented with solid analytical abilities
- Ability to accurately distinguish colors
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50–60 lbs and push/roll 300–800 lbs using a pallet jack
- Strong manual dexterity (cutting, grasping, pushing, pulling, etc.)
- Ability to stand for extended periods on varied surfaces
- Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, and stretching
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and depth perception
