Pay Rate: $28.00/hour


Position Summary

The Assembly Operator V is an advanced-level role responsible for performing complex fiber optic assembly, testing, and troubleshooting. This position plays a key role in supporting new product development, improving manufacturing processes, and ensuring the production of high-quality optical products.

This individual will serve as a technical resource within the team, assist in training team members, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly skilled in fiber optic manufacturing, and capable of working in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble, polish, test, and package fiber optic cables and connector components

  • Perform termination of standard and new fiber optic termini designs

  • Set up and execute advanced testing of cable assemblies (IL/RL testing, optical measurements)

  • Operate equipment such as fiber routers and over-molding machinery as needed

  • Support prototype builds, NPI (New Product Introduction), and pre-release production

  • Measure components using calipers, gauges, and other precision tools

  • Maintain accurate production records and ensure product traceability

  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform minor repairs

  • Follow and demonstrate proper cleaning and contamination control methods for optical assembly

  • Perform EFG and IPC workmanship inspections on fiber optic assemblies

  • Interpret blueprints and derive measurements from technical drawings

  • Inspect work to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications

  • Assist engineering teams with new product launches and process development

  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs

  • Train and mentor new and existing employees on processes and procedures

  • Serve as a technical escalation point for production and quality issues

  • Back up team lead responsibilities as needed

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company policies

  • Communicate effectively within a team to ensure production goals and customer satisfaction

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

  • Minimum 3+ years of manufacturing experience, including 2+ years in fiber optic manufacturing

  • Strong dexterity and hand-eye coordination for intricate assembly work

  • Experience working with small parts using microscopes in a cleanroom environment

  • Proficiency in electronic testing equipment (Oscilloscope, DMM, power supplies, optical test equipment)

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, routers, and bills of materials

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong time management skills and ability to multitask

  • Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills

  • Basic Excel skills for data tracking and analysis

  • Ability to understand and follow written instructions in English

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to remain stationary for up to 75% of the time

  • Ability to move between workstations and production areas

  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment wearing required PPE (gown, gloves, hair net, safety glasses, etc.)
