Job Title: Senior Research Scientist
Job Type: Option for Direct-Hire/Permanent or Temp-to-Perm
Location: Manhasset, NY
Travel: Limited (occasional travel for team meetings)


Position Overview

Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking a Senior Research Scientist to support cutting-edge research focused on elucidating neuro-immune reflex pathways to enable neural modulation as a therapeutic approach for autoimmune diseases.

This role will lead and execute preclinical research, collaborate cross-functionally, and contribute to translating scientific discoveries into clinical applications.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, author protocols, execute, and report on in vitro and in vivo preclinical studies, as well as clinical feasibility studies

  • Lead and perform animal-based research, with a focus on translational relevance

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Development, Clinical Research, Engineering, and Marketing teams

  • Manage and mentor technical staff

  • Analyze complex datasets and integrate findings across disciplines

  • Evaluate and contribute to new product concepts and development strategies

  • Stay current with emerging technologies, methodologies, and regulatory/testing standards

  • Present findings through internal reports, publications, and scientific conferences

  • Maintain the highest standards of scientific integrity, ethics, and professionalism

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Neurophysiology, Immunology, or related discipline

  • Postdoctoral experience and/or prior industry experience

  • Strong background in immunology, physiology, and molecular biology

  • Proven ability to design and execute complex experimental studies

  • Demonstrated success solving multidisciplinary scientific problems

  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Publication and presentation record aligned with experience level

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, start-up environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with rodent models of neuroinflammation or neurodegeneration

  • Hands-on experience with:

    • Rodent surgery

    • Flow cytometry

    • Immunohistochemistry

    • Microscopy

    • qPCR

    • Electrophysiology

    • Bioanalytical assays


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform routine laboratory tasks, including lifting up to 20 lbs

  • Comfortable with extended periods of sitting and repetitive laboratory activities
