Safety Specialist – West Branch, IA (Direct Hire)
Pay: $90,000/year
Location: West Branch, Iowa (Travel up to 50% required – local candidates or those willing to relocate preferred; relocation assistance may be available.)

POSITION SUMMARY
Kelly® is seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Specialist for a direct hire role in West Branch, IA. In this key position, you will identify, evaluate, and manage safety exposures with an aim to protect employees, property, and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines. You will serve as the primary contact for all safety-related issues, drive a culture of safety, and ensure adherence to Local, State, and Federal Safety & Health and DOT regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead Safety & Health programs at the West Branch site, serving as the go-to expert for safety concerns and inquiries.

  • Monitor and assure compliance with all Local, State, and Federal safety regulations and company policies.

  • Design and refine safety procedures, and assist with rollout across site departments.

  • Develop and deliver Safety & Health training to site staff.

  • Conduct audits of site processes and conditions, following up to ensure ongoing compliance and continuous improvement.

  • Maintain all required safety records and reports accurately.

  • Stay current with regional and national safety laws, technology, and best practices, recommending relevant updates to management.

  • Collaborate with leadership and all levels of staff to promote a safe and healthy workplace.

  • Take charge of claim management activities relating to workers compensation, auto liability, and property.

  • Coordinate site occupational health monitoring (respiratory, noise, chemicals).

  • Maintain relationships with insurance carriers and respond to loss control surveys.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety (and 3–5 years Industrial/Occupational Safety & Health and DOT experience)
    OR
    Associate’s/technical degree with 5–8 years’ experience.

  • Solid knowledge of Iowa and Federal Safety, Health, and DOT regulations.

  • Effective communicator across all organizational levels.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Valid Driver’s License and willingness/ability to travel.

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen (excluding THC/marijuana).
