Job details

Kelly Science is seeking Senior Safety Specialist for a growing food manufacturing company located in Worcester, MA. This is a contract opportunity with a potential for permanent opportunities within the company.
 
Pay: $35-50/hour depending on experience
Shift: Monday-Friday 1st Shift
Employment Type: Full Time; Contract (potential for permanent employment)
 
Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety and environmental programs to ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Partner with plant leadership to establish safety goals and KPIs, driving a “Zero Incident” culture through high employee engagement.

  • Conduct regular facility audits and comprehensive risk assessments for all tasks, implementing proactive control measures to eliminate hazards.

  • Lead thorough investigations for accidents and near-misses using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to implement effective corrective actions.

  • Manage and analyze safety metrics and injury trends to lead data-driven continuous improvement initiatives across all departments.

  • Manage and maintain all essential safety records including OSHA 300 logs, incident reports, and environmental permits ensuring 100% accuracy and total readiness for internal, state, and federal regulatory audits

  • Facilitate company-wide safety training, manage the training matrix, and provide technical support to ensure staff competency.

  • Collaborate with HR on workers’ compensation and return-to-work programs, while managing PPE supplies and safety incentives.

  • Maintain strict adherence to food safety requirements, plant GMPs, and hazardous waste management plans to ensure product and site integrity.

 
Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in environmental, health and safety or a related scientific field preferred.

  • 2-5 years of industry experience within safety management systems and accident investigations in a manufacturing environment, preferably food manufacturing.

  • Familiarity with state environmental regulations, regulatory requirements for federal and state programs, processes and program implementation strategies highly desired.
