Location: Barkhamsted, CT
Pay: $31.25 per hour
Schedule: Full time: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Job Summary

The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for managing the full purchasing lifecycle, from supplier research to order fulfillment and inventory management. This role ensures that all procurement activities align with company policies, contractual obligations, and cost-efficiency goals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the purchasing process from start to finish, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement


  • Conduct market research to identify and evaluate potential suppliers


  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors


  • Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions


  • Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data to determine fair and reasonable pricing


  • Maintain inventory levels across all product lines to support operational needs


  • Verify received materials against purchase orders for accuracy and quality


  • Review invoiced pricing to ensure alignment with purchase orders


  • Develop and implement procurement policies and procedures, including bid processes


  • Evaluate and monitor supplier and contract performance to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities


Required Skills

  • High attention to detail and analytical thinking


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite


Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of purchasing experience
