Extruder Operator (1st & 2nd Shift) – Direct Hire
Youngstown, Ohio 

$20.00/hour + $1.00 shift differential 
4-day workweek (Monday–Thursday)
Hours: 7a-7p or 7p-7a 

Kelly Services is hiring Extruder Operators for direct hire opportunities with a leading manufacturer of custom metal and plastic retail displays, fixtures, and protective matting used in retail, healthcare, and pharmacy environments.


Position Overview

The Extruder Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining extrusion and downstream equipment to produce high-quality custom plastic profiles. This role requires hands-on experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate extrusion lines and downstream equipment (chop saws, cutters, reelers, take-offs, vacuum pumps)

  • Read and interpret job orders, specifications, and production requirements (color, material, dimensions)

  • Select and install appropriate tooling and dies

  • Monitor extrusion processes and adjust parameters to maintain product quality

  • Inspect finished products for accuracy in dimensions, color, and length

  • Perform routine quality checks and complete production documentation

  • Identify and report equipment or maintenance issues

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of extrusion experience (custom profiles; PVC preferred)

  • Experience with setups, color changes, and line changeovers

  • Ability to use measurement tools (tape measure, calipers, micrometers)

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail

  • Reliable with strong attendance and work ethic

  • Willingness to work overtime as needed

  • English proficiency (written and verbal)
