Role Overview
The Maintenance Planner supports maintenance activities at a chemical manufacturing plant.
This 100% onsite role involves regular field presence to scope jobs, gather data, and develop maintenance job packages.
The planner ensures craft teams have all required information, materials, and documentation to execute work safely and efficiently.

Day?to?Day Responsibilities

  • Review and prioritize the daily planner queue for new work orders and scheduled work.

  • Conduct field walkdowns to:

    • Gather data

    • Take photos

    • Understand job scope


  • Develop detailed job plans in SAP, including:

    • Creating work orders and tasks

    • Adding documentation, procedures, and photos

    • Specifying and ordering required materials


  • Build and release complete job packages to Scheduling once materials arrive.

  • Participate in bi?weekly backlog meetings with Operations:

    • Align priorities

    • Focus on upcoming work (next 2–3 months)


  • Collaborate with Maintenance Activity Coordinator (MAC) on pit stops and targeted maintenance events.

  • Support metric tracking and ensure planning aligns with plant requirements and timelines.

Top Required Qualifications

  • SAP experience (job creation, planning, materials) – strongly preferred

  • Industry background in chemical or oil manufacturing
    (experience MUST be from plant/industrial settings)

  • Mechanical aptitude, including understanding of fixed and rotating equipment

Physical/Environmental Requirements

  • Significant field work: walking, climbing stairs/ladders, working outdoors in varying conditions

  • Comfortable navigating an active chemical plant environment

  • Transportation onsite via golf cart provided

  • No TWIC card required

PPE Requirements

  • Standard plant PPE required:

    • FR clothing (provided by site)

    • Hard hat

    • Steel?toe boots (candidate provides boots)

    • Hearing protection


  • Harness training generally not required
    (occasional elevated work evaluations may occur; alternatives like drone inspection available)

Soft Skills & Stakeholder Interaction

  • Strong communication to coordinate with:

    • Operations Focal Points (priority alignment)

    • Maintenance Activity Coordinator (MAC)

    • Other planners or technical experts during walkdowns and planning reviews


  • Maintain consistent alignment with cross?functional partners to ensure efficient and accurate planning
