Kelly® Engineering is hiring for 2 Mechanical Engineers for a contract-to-hire positions at our Troy, MI based client. We are seeking individual contributors with strong proficiency in NX and design through prototype experience in mechanical design & development. Salary/Pay Rate/Compensation:
$35.00-60.00 per hour based on experience
Overview
This client designs and manufactures industrial automated machinery. They have a small global product development team that focuses on design, prototype, test, design V&V for product development of automated machinery systems. They have a fast paced and collaborative product development environment averaging 4 months from design through production release.
In this role, you will design parts, mechanisms, and mechanical systems for new industrial automation products. You’ll prototype, test, troubleshoot systems for functionality. Throughout this process, you’ll collaborate with other team members, European design teams, electrical engineering, machine shop, and more.
Responsibilities:
- Designs, develops and updates mechanical systems for products and equipment for new applications, systems improvements, and cost savings.
- Brackets, mechanical components
- Mechanism design – gears, torque systems, spindles, housings
- DFM for machining, casting, assembly, metal fabrication
- Mechanical systems for machinery
- Brackets, mechanical components
- DFMEA, DVP&R, 8D Methodology.
- Prototyping – 3D printing, machine shop, assembly
- Functionality testing, design validation & verification
- Responsible for contact with mechanical tooling components sources for verification of test and performance requirements; assists purchasing and quality control in resolving technical questions or difficulties.
- Coordinates the specification, build, and installation of complete systems to meet customer requirements.
- Provides technical assistance in mechanical matters to internal and external customers as required.
- Reviews, interprets, and applied FEA or CFD reports as required.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers on team (locally and Europe), electrical engineering, software, machine shop, and production.
- Provides expert assistance to other areas as directed and performs all other duties as assigned.
- Able to attend periodic virtual meetings with European team scheduled at 6AM or 7AM
Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related, required
- 2+ years’ experience with mechanical system design including mechanisms & parts for automation products, automatic feeding, electro-mechanical products, or robotic equipment or machinery
- Proficient with NX required, Windchill a plus for file management
- Working knowledge or coursework in FEA or CFD
- Prototyping skills – 3D printing, assembly, fabrication, or machining
- Good technical writing skills
- Hands on mechanical trouble shooting
- Strong team-oriented problem-solving skills
- Collaborative self-driven
