Aircraft Painter I

Pay Rate: $25.66 per hour
Duration: 11-month contract
Location: Savannah, GA 31408
Schedule: 1st Shift – 4:15 AM to 2:45 PM


Position Purpose

The Aircraft Painter I prepares aircraft for paint-related operations by performing tasks safely within schedule while meeting quality standards. This role supports the overall finishing process of aircraft by ensuring proper surface preparation and coating application.


Key Responsibilities

Under general supervision, perform the following:

  • Mask, sand, and prepare aircraft surfaces for paint application

  • Apply glazing and sealing compounds in preparation for final painting

  • Operate and maintain preparation and priming equipment; mix paints and primers

  • Perform leading edge sealant work and assist in final detailing

  • Ensure all work meets quality standards and follows established procedures

  • Comply with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies; properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and protect aircraft interiors (PTP)

  • Maintain and properly care for assigned tools and equipment

  • Follow paint shop standard practices and procedures

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Minimum of 1 year of painting experience (aviation or industrial preferred)

  • Working knowledge of paint processes and products (lacquers, enamels, epoxies, urethanes, acrylics)

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation

  • Must be able to pass a Pulmonary Function Test for respirator certification

  • Ability to use tools, equipment, and materials related to aircraft painting

  • Physically capable of climbing ladders/stairs, working in confined spaces, performing detailed work, lifting up to 40 pounds, and working any shift

  • Basic computer skills required

  • Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and ability to work in a team environment
