Position: Construction Project Manager (Direct Hire)
Salary: $130,000 – $150,000
Location: Bay Area, CA (Travel required across the U.S.)

About the Role

The Construction Project Manager is responsible for overseeing new store construction and renovation projects throughout the U.S., primarily for our rapidly expanding retail operations. Reporting to the Senior Director of Store Development or the Senior Construction Project Manager, you will lead project teams to ensure successful, on-budget, and timely delivery of projects while complying with company standards, landlord requirements, and local regulations.

Industry Experience Preferred:
Candidates with prior experience in the retail supermarket, grocery, or restaurant industries are strongly encouraged to apply.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clear direction and daily scheduling to project team members, ensuring effective performance.

  • Deliver timely follow-up, feedback, and performance evaluations to team members.

  • Establish and implement efficient Construction Management Systems to monitor and manage all active projects.

  • Develop and review comprehensive project plans and specifications, including scope, schedule, and resource requirements.

  • Research and recommend materials, equipment, and tools meeting operational needs and standards.

  • Supervise multiple project teams, ensuring quality, compliance, and adherence to timelines and budgets while keeping all stakeholders informed.

  • Collaborate closely with internal departments to support organizational needs and initiatives.

  • Coordinate with designers, engineers, general contractors, landlords, and local authorities for successful project delivery.

  • Adapt strategies as needed to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

  • Travel frequently across the U.S. to oversee new store developments and renovations.

  • Negotiate vendor contracts and agreements, prepare and monitor budgets, and ensure financial tracking throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure all building permits are obtained and properly closed upon project completion.

  • Organize, collect, and provide contracts, agreements, and invoices to Finance, Accounting, and other internal departments as needed.

  • Develop long-term construction strategies to support ongoing expansion goals.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction project management; experience with retail brands, supermarket chains, grocery stores, or restaurants is highly preferred.

  • Proven experience in design, architecture, construction, maintenance, and renovations.

  • Ability to interpret blueprints and strong technical/mechanical understanding.

  • Demonstrated supervisory, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities; able to work well under pressure and tight deadlines.

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills; knowledge of Mandarin or Cantonese is an asset.

  • Proficient with construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Work Hours

  • Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm (5-day work week)
