Bioprocess Manufacturing Technician

Location: Oceanside, California
Salary Range: $22/hour

Join us as a Bioprocess Manufacturing Technician and play a vital role in producing life-saving medicines in a highly automated, meticulously controlled environment. Utilize advanced technology to create complex biopharmaceuticals under stringent quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate sophisticated manufacturing systems: Follow detailed product recipes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for equipment operation in raw material dispensing, cell culture, and purification.

  • Document and maintain compliance: Accurately record each step and maintain records to meet current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and regulatory standards.

  • Support cross-functional manufacturing: Work in one of the three core areas, building expertise and potentially rotating across:

    • Production Services: Raw material weighing/aliquoting, buffer/media prep, equipment washing/autoclaving, and environmental monitoring.

    • Upstream Manufacturing: Cell growth (spinner flask to large-scale bioreactor), inoculation, and cell harvest (centrifugation, filtration).

    • Downstream Manufacturing: Protein purification (chromatography, reformulation) and product prep for fill/finish.


  • Ensure safety: Adhere to all safety and environmental guidelines. Immediately report any incidents, near misses, or hazards.

  • Utilize automation and aseptic technique: Employ computerized systems and aseptic (sterile) practices across production activities.

  • Facility monitoring: Execute routine environmental monitoring to sustain a compliant production environment.

  • Cleaning and sterilization: Prepare equipment using glass washers, autoclaves, and appropriate gowning protocols.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree, Biotech certificate, or degree in Life Sciences/Engineering preferred.

  • Technical Skills: Basic proficiency with automated/IT systems; experience using Microsoft and Google platforms.

  • Language: Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Stand for extended periods; frequent stair climbing across the facility.

  • Lift and move up to 25 lbs.

  • Wear required cleanroom attire (scrubs, bunny suits, gloves, etc.); makeup, jewelry, and personal electronic devices are not permitted in cleanrooms.

  • Work safely with hazardous chemicals and materials.

  • Must successfully complete all job-related tests and cGMP certifications.

  • Mechanically and technically adept; quickly adapts to new systems and processes.

  • Team player who can also work independently and make sound judgments.

  • Effective communicator with excellent time management skills.

  • Committed to continuous improvement and cross-training to expand technical abilities.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Shifts: Multiple 10- and 12-hour shifts (day/swing/night) available to support 24/7 operations. Overtime and shift differentials are offered per policy.

  • Onboarding: 3-4 week Monday–Friday (8am–5pm) onboarding, followed by dedicated on-the-job training.

  • Flexibility: Open shift availability highly desired; assignment to shift cannot be guaranteed.
