? $23 – $28 per hour | Full-Time (40 hours/week)


About the Role

Marathon Company is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable / Collections Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for managing billing, collections, and cash application processes while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and strong customer communication. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in accounts receivable and a proactive approach to resolving discrepancies and maintaining account health.


Key Responsibilities

  • Handle incoming calls and direct them appropriately

  • Perform billing, collections, and reporting activities in line with deadlines

  • Monitor accounts for non-payment, delayed payment, and other irregularities

  • Follow up with customers to collect outstanding balances

  • Research and resolve payment discrepancies and customer inquiries

  • Maintain accurate accounts receivable records and customer files

  • Review AR aging reports to ensure timely collections and compliance

  • Process and allocate payments (cash, checks, credit cards)

  • Process account adjustments as needed

  • Communicate with customers via phone, email, and written correspondence

  • Assist the Controller with ad hoc reporting and accounting tasks

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of accounts receivable and/or general accounting experience

  • Associate degree in Accounting or related field (required)

  • Strong understanding of AR processes, billing, and collections

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Experience with accounting or ERP systems preferred
