Job Title: Trade Compliance Manager
Compensation: $55-$60 per hour based on experience level
Location: On-site – San Jose, CA (North 1st Street)

Summary:
Molecular Devices, a part of Danaher, is seeking a Trade Compliance Manager to lead trade compliance efforts within our organization. As a key member of the Legal Compliance function, you will drive compliance with import/export regulations, optimize trade operations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. This position reports to the LSIG Director, Trade Compliance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day trade compliance operations for the US and Canada; support global trade compliance initiatives.

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Logistics, R&D, Quality, and other teams to ensure alignment with trade laws and internal policies.

  • Lead tariff mitigation and duty-saving strategies (e.g., first sale, duty drawback, country of origin determination, Section 232 tariff assessments).

  • Develop, implement, and improve trade compliance programs, policies, SOPs, and internal controls for the US, Canada, and Europe.

  • Proactively identify and execute process improvements to minimize compliance risk and drive cost reduction.

  • Provide expert guidance in all areas of trade compliance, including regulatory changes and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred OR 6+ years of relevant experience in customs, export controls, or related field.

  • Proven track record managing trade compliance programs and cross-functional projects.

  • Advanced knowledge of US export regulations (EAR, Census, OFAC sanctions, Commerce Control List, ECCN classification, export licensing, restricted party screening).

  • Expertise in US customs regulations (customs valuation, HTS classification, country of origin determination, import compliance).

  • Working knowledge of Canadian and EU import/export regulations and their application in daily operations.

  • Demonstrated success implementing tariff mitigation strategies (free trade agreements, duty drawback, reconciliation, and more).
