Job Title: Machine Operator – Flash/Grind Operator
Location: Winsted, CT
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Pay Rate: $22.50/hour
Job Summary:
The Flash/Grind Operator is responsible for processing products to specification, operating and adjusting machinery, performing inspections, and maintaining equipment and work areas to ensure high-quality output. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to follow production schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and adjust flashers and grinders according to specifications.
- Process product to meet specifications, including cleaning, weighing, and counting, following provided schedules.
- Conduct in-process inspections, including dimensional measurements and visual inspections.
- Perform hot etch and macro etch inspections; maintain etch room and storage areas; ensure materials are properly labeled with HMIS labels.
- Accurately report processing information on routers and process log sheets.
- Perform assigned preventive maintenance on machinery.
- Monitor grind coolant concentration using a refractometer.
- Ensure all inspection equipment is calibrated before use.
- Plot results on control charts as required.
- Maintain items in the Tooling Control Program.
- Identify, segregate, and initiate Discrepancy Reports for nonconforming products.
- Report equipment issues immediately to supervision.
- Maintain lot traceability and adhere to new or revised specifications as required.
- Attend monthly safety and job-specific safety training.
- Report supply needs (e.g., coolant, bags, banding, clips for strapping bins).
- Perform daily maintenance tasks, including reviewing the grind pit, maintaining water levels in the Flash Grind tank, and cleaning the trough and pipe located in the pit.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by supervision to meet business needs.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in machine operation, preferably with flash/grind equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and quality assurance skills.
- Ability to follow written procedures and specifications.
- Basic math skills for measurements and reporting.
- Strong communication skills for reporting and documentation.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
