 $37–$42/hr (includes $2 shift differential)

Kelly® is hiring an experienced CNC Machinist to support a high-precision, defense-focused manufacturing environment in Hampton, VA.

If you thrive on tight tolerances, clean cuts, and solving real-world machining challenges—this is your lane.


What You’ll Do

  • Set up and operate lathes, mills, grinders, and drill machines

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specs

  • Select proper tooling, speeds, and feeds for various materials

  • Perform precision measurements (micrometers, calipers, gauges)

  • Inspect finished parts to ensure tight tolerance compliance

  • Adjust machine settings during production to optimize performance

  • Troubleshoot machining issues (tool wear, dimensions, machine errors)

  • Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure safe operation

  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to meet deadlines

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience in manufacturing

  • Strong understanding of machining processes and equipment

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings

  • Experience with precision measuring tools

  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving ability

  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality

Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)

  • CNC programming or setup experience

  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software

  • Industry certification (NIMS or similar)

  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or high-spec manufacturing

Work Environment

  • Industrial manufacturing setting (noise, dust, machinery)

  • Standing for extended periods

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • PPE required
