Job Title: Assembly Operator III

Location: Arden, NC 28704
Shift: 1st Shift
Pay Rate: $20.00/hour


Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Assembly Operator III to support fiber optic manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for assembling, terminating, and testing fiber optic cable assemblies while maintaining high standards of quality and precision.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong attention to detail, excellent hand-eye coordination, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. This position also supports new product development efforts and continuous process improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Polish and test fiber optic cables

  • Assemble and package fiber optic connector components

  • Terminate single and multi-fiber cable assemblies

  • Operate fiber routing equipment and perform over-molding processes (as needed)

  • Support prototype, test, and pre-release (NPI) product builds

  • Measure components using calipers, gauges, and other precision tools

  • Complete required documentation to ensure product traceability

  • Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and perform basic repairs

  • Follow proper cleaning methods and contamination control standards

  • Perform EFG and IPC workmanship inspections

  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and quality standards

  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the work area

  • Communicate effectively within a team environment

  • Inspect own work using work instructions, prints, and quality standards

  • Suggest process improvements to enhance manufacturing efficiency

  • Work with limited supervision after training period

  • Support production goals, including overtime as needed

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

  • Minimum 1 year of manufacturing experience required

  • Fiber optic manufacturing experience preferred

  • Knowledge of manufacturing principles: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity

  • Experience with SAP Manufacturing and ISO 9001 preferred

  • Strong hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills

  • Ability to work with small components using a microscope

  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and blueprint reading preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills

  • Ability to follow written instructions in English

  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and shifting priorities

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods (up to 75% of the time)

  • Ability to operate machinery and move between workstations
