Kelly Education is partnering with the local school districts: Jackson Public Schools in and around the Central Mississippi Area.

No previous experience is required!

Remember that school district employee who made a difference in your life? Now it’s your turn! Substitutes are essential in ensuring students continue to learn and grow every day. Substitute food service workers may also be known as culinary worker, cafeteria worker or school nutrition workers.

Job Goal:
To serve the students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs tasks assigned by the manager, using equipment safely and properly.

  • Assists the cook as assigned by the manager.
    Assists in cleaning tables, furnishings, and floors in dining and kitchen areas.

  • Assists in receiving and storing food items, etc.

  • Assists in maintaining the storage area and inventory.

  • Maintains the trash and garbage collection area in a neat and sanitary fashion.

  • Assists, when needed, in serving students and staff members.

  • Operates the dishwashing machine during meals.

  • Performs other related duties as requested or assigned.

  • Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to follow oral and written directions

  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with school district staff

  • Ability to positively relate to a younger generation of students

  • Ability to withstand frequent walking, standing, stooping, and lifting up to 25 -50 lbs.

Minimum requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age or older

  • Valid Fingerprints

  • PERS Retirees Allowed

  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions

  • Willing to learn and accept responsibility

  • Previous experience preferred

  • Ability to work with others

  • Skilled in general cooking mechanics

  • Willing to work in various capacities

  • Negative Drug Test
