Job Title: Batch Weigher
Location: Hicksville, NY
Hours: Monday – Friday, 3:30 PM – 1:00 AM (Some Saturdays required based on business needs)
Pay Rate: $19/hour
Requirements: Steel toe shoes required
Job Summary:
As a Batch Weigher, you will play a vital role in supporting production by preparing kettle ingredients to ensure smooth processing on the floor. Your key responsibilities include pre-weighing ingredients accurately, adhering to safety protocols, and upholding food quality standards. You will be instrumental in maintaining compliance with all food safety policies and procedures while ensuring operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pre-weigh and prepare ingredients for kettles in accordance with production schedules.
- Collaborate with cooks to execute the production plan effectively.
- Verify the sanitation of equipment and perform necessary checks to ensure proper operation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in your workstation while adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP principles.
- Inspect raw materials to ensure they meet quality and sanitary specifications before use.
- Complete checklists and documentation accurately (including lot codes, quality, time, and initials) for batch tracking.
- Ensure all ingredients are stored properly, covered, sealed, and labeled.
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds and engaging in frequent movement (walking, standing, bending, etc.).
- Observe all safety rules and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by supervisors to meet production needs.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend verbal and written instructions.
- Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to understand weights and measurements.
- Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in food production or a similar environment.
- Familiarity with sanitation practices and food safety protocols.
- Ability to operate production equipment (flexicon, scales) and troubleshoot basic issues.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform frequent movement including walking, standing, bending, twisting, and occasionally climbing.
- Comfortable working across varying temperature zones.
- Capability to wear personal protective equipment during work hours.
- Exposure to environments with dust and other particulates.
