Position Overview

Gibson Engineering is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Mechanical Assembler / Saw Operator to support short-term production needs. This role focuses on assembling mechanical frames and guards while also cutting, tapping, and preparing aluminum extrusion materials.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-focused, and able to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical frames, guards, and systems using provided hardware, drawings, and engineering guidance

  • Receive and verify production materials against pick lists; inspect for accuracy and damage

  • Interpret cut lists and determine the most efficient workflow for material preparation

  • Cut aluminum extrusion to specified lengths; perform tapping, cleaning, and labeling

  • Ensure all materials and assemblies are clean, accurate, and ready for customer delivery

  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the extrusion cutting and inventory areas

  • Perform inventory cycle counts and ensure accurate material tracking

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations, including packing and crate/skid building

  • Assist with special projects such as demo builds or facility-related tasks

  • Operate shop equipment (including forklifts) as needed

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Experience in mechanical assembly within a manufacturing or production environment preferred

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and assembly instructions

  • Experience with shop tools, power tools, and cutting equipment

  • Familiarity with aluminum extrusion systems (e.g., RobotUnits) is a plus

  • Forklift experience preferred

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Work performed in a manufacturing/shop environment

  • Frequent use of power tools and heavy machinery

  • Ability to stand and perform physical tasks for extended periods

  • Comfortable working in tight or confined spaces when needed

  • Ability to lift up to 50–70 lbs

  • Basic computer skills (keyboard, mouse, etc.)

Additional Information

This is a contract position expected to last approximately 3–4 months. This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while contributing to high-quality mechanical assembly projects.
