Overview
Our client is an aerospace OEM. This particular division supports airline fleets by developing repairs to aircraft.
In this role, you’ll use CATIA to design repairs to aircraft structure and create a repair solution from the design point of view. You’ll execute design for both metallic and composite non-metallic parts while also working closely with teams in static stress and fatigue to provide a repair solution. Methods include the use of multiple applications to research aircraft configurations and develop efficient repair solutions to satisfy airworthiness requirements and customers (Airlines/MRO).
Responsibilities:
- Perform simple/routine analyses to verify repair tasks.
- Review and interpret damage reports of aircraft structures from the Maintenance Repair Organization and verify repair solutions with support.
- Collaborate with F&DT (fatigue & damage tolerance), Design and other appropriate departments to come up with optimum solutions. Perform functional and technical tasks with guidance
- Create or modify technical documents such as: Technical Communications, Technical Dispositions, Repair Instructions, Repair Drawings etc. within various computer based applications with high quality and efficiency.
- Provide responses to simple to routine repair queries by giving guidance as required within internal Operations and Customer Services in a clear and concise manner.
- Understand the priorities of assignments and how this affects workflow.
- Effectively communicate issues, solutions, ideas, and status of current work to supervision.
Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil/Structural Engineering with a strong emphasis on structural design, analysis, and mechanics of materials required.
- 5+ years’ experience designing airframe structures for OEM or MRO and/or system installation projects.
- CATIA proficiency
- Knowledge of aircraft maintenance repair shop practices, equipment and capabilities.
- Ability to interpret and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and bill of material systems.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to collaborate with airline engineers and repair staff
- Ability to sit and work in an office environment
- Proficient with MS Office application experience (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to use Google Suite application experience (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail).
- Up to ~10 % Domestic and very limited possible international travel, subject to additional based on customer / project requirements
