Laboratory Quality Assurance Manager – Detroit MI

Position Details
- Location: Detroit, MI (100% onsite to start; potential for hybrid/remote in future)
- Type: Full-time, M-F standard working hours
- Salary Range: $70,000–$90,000/year
Key Responsibilities
- Lead CLIA licensing and reaccreditation, ensuring all requirements are met for quality resources and certifications.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the laboratory’s Quality Management System and document control systems
- Drive audit readiness and manage internal/external audit processes, supporting client and regulatory requests (CAP, CLIA, NY accreditation)
- Manage QA/QC assignments, corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), data integrity programs, and SOP governance
- Assist with laboratory regulatory duties, validations/verifications of proprietary/commercial assays, and QA reporting
- Mentor and oversee competency assessment and training for laboratory staff
- Promote good customer relations with clients and uphold high standards for laboratory workflow and compliance
- Analyze quality data and trends to support process improvement initiatives and inform management reviews
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or related field (Associate’s degree will be considered with strong, aligned experience)
- Minimum 3–5 years of quality management experience in a regulated laboratory environment (8+ years in a regulated environment)
- Demonstrated experience with CLIA, CAP, NY, or other laboratory accreditation processes strongly preferred
- Lab background with QA oversight and hands-on audit/certification experience
- ASCP certification in Hematology or MLS strongly preferred but not required
- Working knowledge of computer and analytical software for laboratory and QA documentation
- Strong initiative, ownership, teamwork, attention to detail, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently, accept additional responsibilities, and drive CLIA licensing goals
