Electromechanical Product Development Engineer
Location: Chula Vista, CA
Schedule: 100% Onsite
Type: Direct Hire
Salary Range: $115,000 – $125,000
Kelly Engineering is seeking a hands-on Electromechanical Product Development Engineer for a scientific instrumentation company specializing in laboratory and research equipment used globally.
This role requires a strong electromechanical or mechatronics engineering background with experience integrating mechanical and electrical systems into complete hardware products.
Responsibilities
- Lead product development from prototype through production
- Design and integrate electromechanical systems including motors, sensors, wiring, actuators, and embedded hardware
- Build, test, troubleshoot, and improve hardware systems
- Perform system-level debugging and root-cause analysis
- Collaborate with vendors, manufacturing partners, and leadership
- Support field troubleshooting and customer technical support
- Improve manufacturability, reliability, and product performance
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on hardware product development experience
- Strong electromechanical or mechatronics background
- Experience integrating mechanical and electrical systems
- Experience with scientific instruments, robotics, automation equipment, industrial machinery, or lab instrumentation
- Ability to work independently in a small-company environment
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- SolidWorks experience
- Embedded systems or control systems exposure
- Startup or small-company experience
- Personal electronics or maker-project experience
