Kelly® is seeking an experienced Accountant III to support a top energy client in Houston, TX (Energy Corridor). This is a great opportunity to join a leader in the energy sector and work with influential teams on high-impact joint ventures.
Job Title: Accounting Advisor, Joint Venture
Location: Houston, TX (Energy Corridor)
Contract Duration: 6 Months
Pay Rate: $50 – $60 per hour (DOE)
Position Overview
As an Accounting Advisor, Joint Venture, you’ll be responsible for preparing and reviewing all general financial matters related to joint venture arrangements. The Joint Venture group acts as the point of contact to optimize financial performance and proactively respond to the needs of both internal and external stakeholders. Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate accounting and budgeting records, ensuring proper cash management procedures, strengthening business relationships with partners, and supporting other departments as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare/review monthly financial statements and support schedules for internal management and partners.
- Prepare, review, and approve monthly journal entries, including joint venture billings.
- Perform research/analysis for ad hoc partner questions or requests.
- Collaborate with groups such as Business Development, Treasury, and Reporting.
- Prepare annual budgets for internal management and joint ventures.
- Coordinate cash calls and distributions with partners.
- Prepare/report quarterly and annual FERC Form 3 & Form 2 filings.
- Account reconciliations and actual variance analysis.
- Assist with internal/external auditor coordination for audits.
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls and related reporting.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to analysts.
- Support special projects as needed.
Scope & Contacts
- Interact with all levels of management to optimize joint venture performance (including cost recovery) and ensure compliance with agreements.
- Develop actionable recommendations for senior leaders, auditors, and JV financial managers.
Internal Stakeholders:
Business Development, Regulatory, Legal, Economic Evaluation, Treasury, Tax, Financial Reporting/FP&A, Investor Relations
External Stakeholders:
Partners’ accounting teams, external auditors, audit staff from JV partners
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
- 4+ years of relevant accounting experience
- CPA preferred (not required)
- Strong communication skills across all levels of an organization
- Excellent organization, planning, and analytical skills
