What’s a typical day as Heat Treat Operator? You’ll be:
- Operating horizontal electric controlled atmosphere furnaces and vertical heat-treating equipment for hardening and tempering various sizes according to established procedures
- Reviewing coil identification tags, specifications, and charts to ensure correct processing
- Using micrometers, vernier calipers, overhead electric hoists, and various furnace controls to monitor and adjust operations
- Setting feed rates, performing coil handling, and joining coils via resistance butt welding for continuous operation
- Monitoring temperature and atmosphere settings, cutting sections for quality checks, and documenting results
- Securing and transporting hardened coils to the next process
- Reporting equipment defects, unsafe materials, and unusual situations
- Adhering to all safety rules, practices, and procedures
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
- Have knowledge of charts, specifications, and measuring instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers (must have)
- Possess 1-2 years of experience in a similar manufacturing or machine operator role (preferred)
- Are comfortable with numbers, including decimals, and performing light physical tasks (lifting/pushing/pulling 5 to 25 pounds)
- Hold a High School Diploma or GED equivalent (must have)
- Thrive in a demanding, deadline-driven environment with changing priorities
