Job details

NPI Materials Specialist (SAP / Supplier Management)

Sunnyvale, CA

Kelly Engineering is hiring an NPI Materials Specialist to support new product development and engineering builds in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This role is ideal for someone who knows how to keep engineering teams moving by making sure material shows up on time, suppliers stay aligned, and build schedules do not get blocked by shortages.

You will act as the key liaison between engineering, supply chain, and vendors to manage quotes, purchase orders, delivery timelines, and material readiness for next-generation product development.

If you have experience supporting prototype or NPI builds, know your way around SAP, and can manage suppliers, this is the kind of role where you will make an immediate impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Own material execution for NPI and engineering builds from quote through delivery

  • Request and manage supplier quotes (RFQs), lead times, and pricing

  • Place and track purchase orders in SAP

  • Monitor supplier delivery schedules and proactively escalate delays

  • Cross-reference material availability against engineering build plans

  • Communicate shortages, risks, and material readiness to internal teams

  • Partner closely with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to keep builds on track

  • Track open orders, delivery timing, and material status in Excel

  • Help ensure materials arrive on time and support clear-to-build execution for development teams

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5+ years of experience in materials, purchasing, supply chain, or NPI support

  • Strong SAP experience (must-have)

  • Advanced Excel skills for tracking orders, shortages, and delivery status

  • Experience working directly with suppliers, quotes, and purchase orders

  • Strong follow-through and ability to manage vendor communication independently

  • Experience supporting hardware, manufacturing, or engineering build environments

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with engineering teams

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting prototype, NPI, or new product builds

  • Experience managing supplier timelines in fast-moving engineering environments

  • Experience working with engineering teams on material readiness and build support

Why This Role

  • High-visibility role supporting next-generation development work

  • Direct impact on engineering build execution and material readiness

  • Fast interview process

  • Strong team exposure and immediate ownership

  • Opportunity to step into a critical gap and make an impact quickly

Schedule

  • Standard first-shift schedule

  • Typically onsite in Sunnyvale

  • Light hybrid flexibility (1–2 days/week depending on workload)
