Job Title: Staff Accountant
Location: Manassas VA 20109
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Onsite)
Pay Rate: USD $45.00/hr
Contract: 6 Months contract – Temp to Hire
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; MBA or CPA preferred
• 5-7+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Experience with ERP systems; Sage experience is a plus
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• High level of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information
• Team-oriented with strong communication skills
Responsibilities:
• Support day-to-day activities of the Finance Department
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities
• Manage journal entries, accruals, and reclassifications
• Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations
• Analyze variances against budget, forecast, and prior periods
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
• Manage fixed assets, depreciation, revenue recognition, and intercompany transactions
• Assist with preparation of financial statements and management reports
• Support external reporting requirements and audit processes
• Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor requests
• Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting processes
• Identify process improvements and support automation initiatives
• Document accounting procedures and workflows
• Provide accounting guidance to cross-functional teams
• Review work of junior accountants and provide training and support
