Position Title: Courier (Mailroom Operations)
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, shifts between 8:30 AM–5:00 PM or 9:00 AM–5:30 PM (occasional Saturdays)
Pay Rate: $22.00/hour

Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Courier with mailroom experience to support daily campus operations. This role is responsible for the timely collection, processing, and delivery of mail, packages, and materials across multiple university locations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, physically capable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail, packages, and materials across campus departments

  • Perform scheduled and on-demand pickups and deliveries (including bulk, palletized, and heavy items)

  • Operate university vehicles for transportation between locations

  • Process shipments via UPS, FedEx, and other carriers using shipping software systems

  • Accurately track deliveries using handheld devices and computerized systems

  • Operate postage meters and scales to determine appropriate postage

  • Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips; inspect for damage

  • Maintain records of mail, shipments, and inventory requiring special handling

  • Support inventory movement and organization within storage facilities

  • Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and (if certified) forklifts

  • Provide customer service at the service window, including processing payments (checks, credit cards)

  • Assist with operations in the campus retail/surplus sales center

Required Qualifications

  • Must have prior mailroom experience (required)

  • Experience in shipping/receiving, logistics, or courier services

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn shipping/tracking systems

  • Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record:

    • No suspensions or revocations

    • No more than 2 moving violations in the past 12 months

    • No DUI or drug/alcohol-related driving offenses in the past 5 years


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs

  • Frequent bending, reaching, and climbing

  • Comfortable working in a physically active role

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with UPS/FedEx shipping systems

  • Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Experience in campus, corporate, or medical mailroom environments

  • Customer-facing experience in retail or service environments
