Job Title: Powder Coat Operator
Location: Englewood, CO 80110
Pay: $24–$28 per hour, DOE
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:00am – 4:30pm (Possible OT on Fridays)
Position Overview:
Under the supervision of the Production Supervisor, the Powder Coat Operator is responsible for the proper use and care of the powder coating booth, applying powder paint to parts via automated guns and manual spray, and maintaining a high quality product.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Commit to and follow the facility Mission, Vision, and Values, supporting company Operating Principles both individually and as part of a team.
- Attend and participate in all required company training programs.
- Operate all coating equipment including guns, hoppers, reclaim system, and booth collection system.
- Operate machinery or stations as instructed to meet scheduled demands.
- Support the development and validation of standard recipes for various parts or powders.
- Monitor and adjust process settings to ensure the best quality and efficiency, reducing powder waste and defects.
- Understand and optimize the impact of gun output, air quality, current, resistance, gun spacing/location, voltage, and part geometry on powder application quality.
- Develop a working knowledge of pretreatment and cure oven effects on finished products.
- Keep accurate records of production, waste, and quality checks.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area; perform proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
- Report any safety or environmental incidents.
Environmental, Health & Safety:
- Follow all company, OSHA, and EPA environmental policies.
- Maintain and encourage safe behavior.
- Participate in safety-related events, training, and processes.
- Use and maintain required PPE, including safety glasses and steel/composite toe boots.
Quality Assurance:
- Maintain a high standard of customer focus, producing quality products and services without compromising safety or environmental standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues within scope; escalate where appropriate.
- Use tools and devices to check coating quality pre-cure and monitor booth operations.
Physical & Mental Demands:
- Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands/fingers, and reach with arms.
- Frequently lift and move up to 20 pounds; occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds.
- Must have close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- May be required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Work Environment:
- Plant environment subject to extreme temperatures, uneven surfaces, intermittent loud noise, and dusty/dirty conditions.
