Job Title: Finishing Operator
Location: Mankato, MN 56001
Work Schedule: Mon – Thu, from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am
Pay rate: USD $ 20
Contract: 4-month duration (temp to hire)
Qualifications:
• Preferred 1 year minimum of experience in a manufacturing or production environment. • Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting. • Ability to operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and other material handling equipment safely. • Strong attention to detail, quality control awareness, and problem-solving skills. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. • Familiarity with industrial finishing and production processes. Physical Working Conditions • Ability to stand and walk for long periods (up to 12 hours). • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting up to 30- 50 lbs. • Exposure to dust, noise, temperature fluctuations, and exposure to chemicals (paints, solvents) • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) protection when required. • Fast-paced, production floor environment requiring attention to safety and detail.
Responsibilities:
Summary The Finishing Line Operator is a versatile team member responsible for safe, efficient, and high-quality operation across saw line, paint booth, and finishing areas. This role offers opportunities to learn all production positions, with progression through skill levels and increased responsibilities. Attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and commitment to safety and quality are essential. Job Responsibilities Saw Line Operation: • Operate and monitor saw line equipment to cut and process work-in-progress (WIP) panels. • Perform routine quality checks to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface quality. • Conduct basic maintenance such as blade inspection, replacement, and minor adjustments. • Record production data and complete shift documentation accurately. Paint Booth Operation: • Operate and maintain paint booth equipment for applying coatings and finishes. • Monitor booth environment and paint application to meet quality and industry standards. • Inspect finished products for paint defects (thickness, coverage, chips, appearance). • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of paint equipment. Product Grading, Stacking & Packaging: • Inspect siding boards, panels, or finished products for defects, assign grades, and flag items for rework or disposal. • Stack finished products correctly using protective materials to prevent damage. • Prepare bundles or pallets for storage or shipment with accurate counts and labeling. • Assist with packaging line operations and material handling as needed. Overall General Responsibilities: • Use hand tools, tape measures, and material handling equipment safely. • Communicate quality issues, production concerns, and equipment problems to supervisors. • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and product quality. • Opportunity to learn and rotate through all production positions, progressing through skill levels and responsibilities. • Adhere to all company safety, environmental, and operational policies. • Perform all other duties as assigned.
