Apparel Technical Designer (Contract)
Costa Mesa, CA
Contract Assignment: May 2026 – December 2026| $45.00 – 48.50/hour | Full-Time (40 hrs/week)
Clothing company seeking an experienced Apparel Technical Designer to support apparel product development and technical execution from concept through production. This role partners closely with Design, Product Development, Merchandising, and factory teams to ensure fit, quality, and construction standards are met across men’s and women’s apparel categories.
Responsibilities
Own the fit process from prototype through production
Develop and approve garment specifications and fit comments
Lead fit sessions and communicate corrections to factory partners
Translate design concepts into production-ready garments
Review samples for fit, construction, and quality accuracy
Collaborate with cross-functional and global sourcing teams
Support block development and fit consistency initiatives
Maintain timelines and product development calendar deadlines
Qualifications
7+ years of Apparel Technical Design experience
Strong knowledge of garment construction, fitting, and patternmaking
Experience with tops, bottoms, outerwear, denim, knits, and wovens
Hands-on experience with grading, garment sizing, and technical patterns
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office
Experience with PLM systems such as Enovia or FlexPLM preferred
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
