Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $21/hour
About:
A respected organization in Waterbury is seeking a professional and dependable Receptionist to support its Housing and Rental Assistance Program. This position plays a key role in ensuring efficient front-office operations while delivering exceptional customer service to clients, landlords, and community members.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment with a high volume of phone calls and client interaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer and direct incoming telephone calls professionally and efficiently
- Greet clients and visitors while providing excellent customer service
- Prepare, type, and distribute correspondence, reports, and forms
- Maintain organized filing systems and accurate client records
- Log incoming Requests for Tenancy Approval and update available unit listings
- Prepare monthly client re-certification packets
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and faxes
- Review eligibility applications for completeness and accuracy
- Provide general administrative and clerical support to program staff
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1–2 years of receptionist, administrative, or office support experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and general computer skills
- Ability to learn program-specific software systems
- Experience operating standard office equipment, including multi-line phone systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic math skills, including arithmetic and percentages
- Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work effectively under pressure
- Professional demeanor and ability to interact with diverse populations, including clients, landlords, attorneys, and the public
