Location: Durham, CT
Pay: $20–$22/hour + 10% shift differential

Shift Availability

1st Shift

  • Monday – Thursday: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM

  • Friday OT (as needed): 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM

2nd Shift

  • Monday – Thursday: 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM

  • Friday: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Job Summary

The Screener performs all duties necessary to decorate products according to customer specifications, including setting up screen-printing equipment, maintaining silk screens, and creating new screens. This role also assists with packing responsibilities when screen-printing tasks are not available.

Essential Functions

Screen Printing

  • Set up and operate screen-printing equipment according to production schedules and customer specifications

  • Prepare and maintain silk screens, including cleaning, coating, and exposing screens as needed

  • Create new screens for upcoming projects, ensuring accuracy and quality

  • Apply inks and decorative materials using screen-printing techniques

Setup and Operation

  • Efficiently set up screening operations in conjunction with packing line lead personnel

  • Follow all work instructions for assigned screening jobs

  • Maintain a pace consistent with production and quality standards

Screen Preparation and Maintenance

  • Maintain screens and store them in designated locations

  • Ensure all required production materials (inks, screen wash, etc.) are available throughout production runs

Quality Control

  • Inspect printed products for defects and ensure compliance with quality standards and customer specifications

  • Adjust equipment and processes as needed to maintain high-quality output

  • Document and report defects or discrepancies identified during inspections

  • Ensure all quality standards and procedures are followed

Maintenance and Equipment Care

  • Perform routine maintenance on screening equipment to ensure optimal performance

  • Ensure screening equipment operates efficiently during production runs

  • Notify lead personnel or supervisors of non-standard materials, products, or conditions immediately

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety and environmental regulations

Packing Responsibilities

  • Assist with packing products when screening tasks are unavailable

  • Pack products accurately and securely according to company standards

  • Label and organize packed products for shipping and distribution

Safety and Compliance

  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures

  • Report unsafe conditions immediately to lead personnel or supervisors

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, machine settings, and maintenance performed

  • Submit production counts for each work order in a timely manner

Collaboration

  • Work closely with the production team to coordinate schedules and prioritize tasks

  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding project status and operational issues

Workplace Organization

  • Follow 7-S policies and procedures while meeting established goals

  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area to promote safety and efficiency

  • Participate in team meetings and continuous improvement initiatives

Work Environment

  • Exposure to a noisy and fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Required use of PPE, including safety glasses/goggles, gloves, and steel-toed boots

  • Ability to work under production deadlines and changing priorities

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in required training programs to enhance skills and knowledge

  • Perform other assigned duties as necessary to support team goals and operations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Previous screen-printing or related manufacturing experience preferred

  • Familiarity with screen-printing equipment, materials, and processes

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity

  • Basic understanding of manufacturing safety procedures and regulations

  • Ability to lift and handle heavy objects as required
