Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Technician to support the manufacturing and production of specialized industrial water treatment systems and equipment. This position plays a critical role in meeting daily production goals while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery.
The successful candidate will assist in fabricating components and complete assemblies, interpret technical drawings and schematics, operate fabrication equipment, and contribute to a collaborative manufacturing environment. This role supports key business objectives related to Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), quality assurance, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate, assemble, and install components for industrial water treatment systems according to engineering specifications and quality standards.
- Read and interpret construction blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and material specifications.
- Select and utilize appropriate materials based on project requirements and technical documentation.
- Operate fabrication and shop equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts, drill presses, belt sanders, band saws, bench grinders, and ironworkers.
- Perform pipe fitting and assembly tasks using industry-standard techniques and materials.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, and EHS requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Mentor and train new team members on fabrication processes, safety procedures, and company standards.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality expectations.
- Troubleshoot fabrication and assembly issues and provide practical solutions to support production goals.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, equipment maintenance, mechanical service, or a qualified mechanic role.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Experience operating fabrication equipment and hand tools in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of pipe fitting techniques and materials commonly used in industrial water treatment systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to established procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Construction Fabricator I or in a similar fabrication role.
- Experience in the water treatment, industrial equipment, or related manufacturing industry.
- Prior experience training, mentoring, or onboarding new employees.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment as required.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in a manufacturing environment for extended periods.
- Comfortable working with machinery, power tools, and material handling equipment.
